ANNUAL CONFERENCE.

WANGANUI, November 29.

The- annual conference of the N.Z. Master Butchers’ Association opened to-day. Twenty-two delegates attended. The president, Mr J. F. Carter, was in the chair. The delegates were welcomed by the Mayor (Mr W- JRogers). The president’s report referred to. the hard work of the Association during the year, and the difficult period experienced by the trade, because of unfair competition, in some districts more than others. Matters of interest dealt with included competition by freezing eompanies who retailed meat to the public at prices much below those which butchers had to charge, and the serious problem that butchers had to face, particularly in the Waikato, by the inroads made in stock by facial ecxema. ; ‘ •
