RAILWAYMEN
NATIONAL PARTY ADDRESS. AUCKLAND, August 30. References to superannuation and recent Government appointments to State services brought forth a storm of interruptions at the Otahuhu Railway Worshops at the lunch hour, when the National party candidate for Otahuhu, Mr K. B. Tennent, addressed a mass meeting of the men. Mr J. B. Graham presided. At the conclusion of his address the candidate was asked a number of The following resolution was then moved by Mr Jacob Elliott, seconded by Mr R. MacDonald and carried unanimously amid loud and prolonged cheering:— “That 'this meeting of over 1000 railway employees accords a vote of thanks to the candidate for his address; but owing to the degradation, unemployment, misery and wage cutting initiated by the party he represents, the railwaymen of Otahuhu Workshops have no confidence whatsoever, either in Mr Tennent or the National administration; and we pledge ourselves wholeheartedly to work for the return of the Labour Government at the forthcoming poll.’’
