RUNANGA NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent.] k.S.A. Social: The Runanga branch of the R.b.A, held a whist drive and dance at the Druids’ Hall on Saturday evening, when a large number attended. The prizes for the whist were won by Mrs Glover and Mr J. Deardon, and booby prizes by Mrs O’Loughlin and Mr K McDonald. The Monte Carlo was won by Mrs F. Baxendale and Mr A. Deardon. Dancing continued until midnight.

Hopkinson in view of their approaching marriage at the Druids Hall, w ere , a mo'st enjoyable time was spent Miss Mabie Griffiths, president 011 the Runanga Basketball Club, mad- ■ a speech and introduced the couple, to their guests. Mr Hopkinson replied on behalf of Miss Dowling and himself and thanked the g at *jering for their useful presents. A daint> supper was served, and the evening continued with dancing. Wedding’: The wedding took place at the A glican Church on Friday evening at 7 o’clock of Miss Elsie Dowling eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Dowling and Mr Roily Hopkinson, son of Mr and Mrs A. Hopkinson Ven. Archdeacon J. A. Jermyn A reception was held at the residence of the bridegroom’s aunt, Mrs Chaix, Cowper Street, where the guests were entertained. The happy couple eft later by car for a tour of the South Island.
