BY DE VALERA GOVERNMENT ON PRIVATE MOTION. [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received May 26, 8.25 p.m.) DUBLIN, May 26. Mr E. De Valera’s Government was defeated yesterday in the Dail Eirean on a private motion by 51 votes to 50, a majority of one. The Dail immediately adjourned, but it is understood Mr De Valera did not propose to resign. Instead he will ask the Dail Eirean for a vote of confidence and abide by its decision.

QUICKLY SUBSCRIBED. (Received May 26, 9.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 26. I The Eire loan for £10,000,000 to pay to Britain has been subscribed. It was opened as from May 23 to May 28, but has already been closed. The Eire Government took up four millions of the loan.
