Navy League SUPPORTS GOVERNMENT. WELLINGTON, May 20. The following letter has been sent to the Minister of Defence, on behalf of the conference of the Navy League in New Zealand. “We wish to congratulate you upon your address at Dargaville, on Tuesday last, and to assure you of the Navy League’s appreciation of the steps you and your Government are taking to strengthen the Doninion’s defences. Your statements regarding our sea and air defences. in which the League is vitally interested, were most reassuring and encouraging, and we shall urge out organisation throughout the Dominion to help in shaping and extending what is the necessary public opinion to back you up in the policy vou outlined in your address.” The letter is signed by the President (Mr J. Sutherland Ross) and the secretary (Mr R. Darroch).
