RED CROSS SOCIETY

I ANNUAL MEETING. I I Mrs. B. E. Meade, presided over an attendance of about 20 members at the annual meeting of the Grey SubCentre of the Red Cross Society last evening. The annual report, presented by the President, was adopted as follows:—

During the year ending March 31, the membership of the Greymouth Sub-Centre totalled 62 members with ■another 23 members residing at Inchbonnie. During the year first aid classes were conducted, a total of 29 members securing passes in first aid at Greymouth. Executive meetings were held at regular intervals during the year. As a result of an international appeal by the Red Cross [Society, the Greymouth Sub Centro raised the sum of £37 15s 4d, which amount was forwarded to Headquarters, Wellington, for relief in the Far East. The balance sheet, showing a credit balance, was also adopted. The following officers were elected: — Patron: Mr. W. Meldrum (re-elect-ed). 1 President: Mrs. B. E. Meade (reielected). Vice President: Mrs. W. Meldrum. (re-elected). Secretary: Mrs. E. A. McDonnell. [ Committee: Dr. J. F. C. Moore, Mesdames A. Sharp, N. Thompson and (Tillyshort; Messrs J. Rothera and L. >B. Hutchison. It was decided to apIpoint Drs. H. S. Ray and W. A. Bird as honorary surgeons, and as members of the committee.

It was decided to commence classes in first aid and home nursing, on [Tuesday, May 24, all intending members being requested to hand their names to Mrs. McDonnell, Alexander .Street.

I Mr. W. Meldrum moved that . a hearty vote of thanks and appreciation be accorded Mr. L. B. Hutcheson i for the able manner in which he carried out his duties as Secretary.
