MILK PRICES

TO RISE IN CHRISTCHURCH.

CHRISTCHURCH, May 12.

Milk prices in Christchurch will shortly be increased because of an acute shortage of milk at present, according to a statement by the secretary' of the Christchurch Dairymen’s Society, Ltd. (Mr A. A. Cooper), yesterday. A large meeting of members of the society unanimously passed a resolution that the wholesale price of milk be increased by 2d a gallon on the farm from May 16 until further notice.

The producer-vendors, of whom a large number were present, unanimously resolved at the same meeting that the retail price of milk in the be increased by one penny a quWc until further notice.
