AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE Ten Million Loan IPer Press Association.] (Received April 28, 11 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 28. Sir Edward Ellington, who has been invited by the Commonwealth Government to visit Australia and report on the Air Force organisation, will also visit New Zealand and Canada, after his inspection of the Australian Air Force stations. Legislation now before the Commonwealth Parliament, provides for raising a defence loan of ten millions, of which four millions is being raised immediately. An additional million will be provided towards the cost of organising civil industry for national defence. The coastal defences round Australia will be modernised, mechanised, greatly strengthened, and equipped with wireless.
An anti-submarine school is being established at Sydney, and large ammunition dumps laid down at suitable locations.
