BOWLING

MATCH AT RUNANGA. A friendly match took place at Runanga yesterday between four Greymouth and Runanga rinks, resulting in a win for Runanga by 86 to 75. The ' President, Mr. W. R. Smith, welcomed the visitors. Mr. T. A. W. Tate suitably replied. A vote of thanks was accorded the ladies for the delightful afternoon tea provided. Results, with Grey mouth players first mentioned, were:— Angas, Pearson, Congreve, Southward (s.) 21, v. A. Smith, Dowling, Halliday, Syme (s.) 24. Morrison, Fairmaid, North, Sharp Jnr. (s.) 15, v. W. R. Smith, Mathieson, Henderson, Armstrong, Snr. (s.» 19. Smith, Lawn, Sotheran, Rothwell (s.) 20, v. Urwin, Grey, Mossop and White (s.) 25. Armstrong, King, Patterson, Pate (s.) 19, v. J. Hulhouse, Allen, Taylor, Warburton (s.) 18. Five Rinks from the Runanga Club are to travel to Millerton next Saturday to play for the Ballinger Buckles. Runanga will probably play Karoro on March 26 for the Reynseds Badges. On March 27, it is hoped tnat eight rinks from the Buller district will play on the Runanga green against eight Coast rinks for the Buchanan Cup.

KARORO v. GREYMOUTH

Teams representing Greymouth and Karoro Bowling Clubs met on the latter’s green on Saturday afternoon when the Reynolds Badges, held by Karoro, were competed for. The result proved a decisive win for the holders, the scores being: Karoro 92, Greymouth 75. The individual scores (Greymouth being first named) were: Brown, Hughes, Robertson, Mercer (s) 30; Boddy, Warnes, Leitch, Whibley (s) 21. Holt, Denton, Cogswell, Meldrum (s) 11; P- Thomson, Absalom, Sansom, Moss (s) 26. Quayle, Kibble, R. T. Smith, Tabb (s) 22; Sligo, Gilbert, Saunders, McCorkindale (s) 14. CXrams, Phillips, Popple, Truscott (s) 12; Seddon, Lemin, Bunt, Kyle (S) 31 - , A colt match was also played, this being won by Karoro, 27 (Bellamy, Paton, Hughes, Young, skip); Greymouth 23 (Hamilton, Ferguson, Mursell, Hoskin, skip). Runanga Club having challenged the holders for the Badges, will now play Karoro Club on the latter’s, green on Saturday next.
