Many Killed ENCOUNTER WITH TROOPS. [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.j (Received March 11, 5.15 p.m.) HAIFA, March 11. Air Force bombers assisting the police against a hundred Arabs, killed thirty-two near Saled. The encounter began in the morning when the troops met a small armed band' attempting to move southward. The troops stopped them and killed one. ■ . “ This was a sequel to snipers attacking the Jewish colony of Merchawa. The Jews responded to the snipers’ fire, drawing blood. Bloodhounds followed the trail to Zirian, formerly the scriptural town of Jezreel, where they smelt out a man who had died of wounds, and in- 1 dicated two others who were arrested. A patrol took as prisoners five Arabs at Urtas, near Bethlehem. They were wearing khaki uniforms under their Bedouin cloaks. The Militarv Court at Haifa sentenced to death two Arabs for carrying rifles. They were captured in an engagement at the Jenin Hills, where a British soldier was killed and a hundred Arabs were killed and taken prisoner. The accused in evidence, stated t.iat c> <v ht hundred Arabs had captuied them and compelled, them to attack the British.
