A sitting of the War Pensions Board was held at Greymouth yesterday, when over twenty cases were dealt with. The members of the Board, Mr T. E. Y. Seddon (chairman), Mr J. D. Harper and Dr. Marshall McDonald, will leave to-day for Christchurch.

At the monthly meeting of the Greymouth branch of the Plunket Society there were present Mesdames A. H. Wilde, McKane, Fletcher, R. T. Smith, Meldrum, Webber, Phillips, Trott, Miss Anderson and the secretary (Mrs McCarthy). In the absence of Mrs J. O’Brien (president), from whom an apology was received, Mrs Wilde presided. Apologies were also received from Mesdames Barrett, Ramage and Wallis. Tentative arrangements concerning- the annual ball to be held in June were discussed. Arrangements were made regarding the yearly collection. The nurses’ report for February was received as follows: Visits to headquarters: Adults 325, babes 313, older children 34. Out-stations: Adults 254, babes 241, older children 41. Visits to homes, headquarters, new case® 32, old 108, out-stations, new 17, old 147.

A new car was put on the New Zealand market this week by Vauxhall Motors, England. It is a Vauxhall 10 horse power car, with a four cylinder valve in head engine. It is fitted with Lockhead Hydraulic brakes, all steel body, turret top. It has a large luggage compartment, four big doors, Fisher no-draught ventilation, dual' mechanical wiper, safety glass and knee action wheels, and is priced as low as £305 delivered. I The Greymouth Borough Council has called tenders for the supply of pipes for the sewerage scheme. A start will most likely be made in a small ' way at Blaketown in about a fortnight’s time, but three months will elapse before the work is commenced comprehensively.

A meeting of West Coast coal mine managers was held at Greymouth yesterday to consider proposals submitted by the National Mine Workers of New Zealand for a new agreement. Those present included Messrs T. O. Bishop, Wellington, Secretary of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, C. J. Strongman (Superitendent State Mines Department), J. Quinn (Blackball Coal Company), G. Smith (Brunner Collieries)), J. Glendinning (Grey Valley Collieries), W. Hewison (Denniston), J. C. Brown (Westport Coal Company), O. J. Davis (Millerton), T. McGhie (Westport-Stock-ton). The employers will later meet the miners’ representatives in conference on a date to be arranged.

Work was commenced on the unloading of the cargo from the Titoki at Greymouth yesterday morning, following a meeting of the Watersiders’ Union. Subsequently, the officials of the union and shipping representatives had a general discussion on matters relating to the working of the port. It is also understood that a conference between two representatives of the seamen of the vessel and executive members of the Waterqiders’ Union was held, concerning the question as to whether the seamen or the watersiders were” to work the winches on the vessel during loading and unloading operations. The Titoki sailed early last evening for Westport to load a cargo of coal for Nelson and Tarakohe.
