MOSSY CREEK. The Mossy Creek dreage return was 20 ounces 9 dwts. for 127 hours’ work and 8,700 yards of material treated. BLACKBALL CREEK DREDGE. OPERATIONS TO COMMENCE. The construction of the Blackball Creek dredge (formerly the Brian Boru dredge) in Blackball Creek, about two chains away from where the Argo dredge was launched, has been completed and on Wednesday and yesterday the plant was given trial runs, which proved most satisfactory. It is thought that dredging operations will begin in earnest on Monday next, when two shifts will be worked for a start. The reconstruction of the dredge and engineering work was carried out under the direction and personal supervision of Mr W. G. McKay, the contractor for the erection of the plant. The dredge will be given about a month’s work under Mr McKay’s supervision, before being handed over to the dredgemaster. The returns, it is anticipated, will be good, as those of the Argo dredge, as it is the same class of ground, only the railway line separating the two dredging areas.
