In Australia QUEENSLAND’S LABOUR POLICY. [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn] BRISBANE, March 10. Mr J. Forgan Smith, Premier of Queensland, in a policy speech, said that Labour, if returned to power, would exempt from relief tax all incomes up to £2OB per year, reduce the tax on higher incomes, and remove unnecessary burdens in income taxation. The Government would collaborate with the Commonwealth and other State Governments, to give effect to its objective of the 40-hour week, with a maximum of 44 hours. He added that employment was now at the highest level ever recorded at Queensland. and provided that export prices did not sag, the State would be better off than it had been for twelve years.
