[Per Press Association], AUCKLAND, February 14. An announcement was made today by Dr. E. B. Gunson, President of the Crusade for Social Justice, that he has decided to contest the Parnell seat at the next election, as an Independent. TIMARU, February 14. Mr T. D. Bennett, M.P., the sitting member, has announced his intention again to contest the Temuka seat at the forthcoming General Election in the interests of the National Party. Mr Bennett has been member for Temuka since 1919, when he beat the sitting member, Mr S. J. Talbot, who had held the seat for five years, by 29 votes. WELLINGTON. February 14. Astronomers at Wellington, who are studying solar activity, report that the big spot which appeared- last week shows signs of disintegration. There are now visible 107 spots, of which 34 are in five groups, which have just appeared on the eastern edge df the sun. These groups are in the zone which has been very active for the past year, and which was responsible for the tremendous magnetic storms last April. AUCKLAND, February 14. Normal conditions prevailed at the Auckland wool, grain, hides, and manure stores, to-day when the men who were concerned in the dispute which was the cause of the idleness, on Saturday, returned to work. It was made clear that the matter in dispute related to Saturday only, the men claiming overtime rates of pay for work done on that day. The question will not recur til' next Saturday, and meanwhile the position will be further considered. GISBORNE, February 14. Richardson and Company’s small vessel Mako has been idle since Saturday, as the result of a dispute as to whether the members of the crew, orthe watersiders, should handle the cargo. The seamen on the ship claimed preference of employment in working the cargo, and the watersiders refused to supply supplementary labour, contending that such action would be counter to the regulations.

Reports from Napier indicate that the Awahou is delayed there, as the result of a similar dispute.
