A New York cablegram announced the death, as a result of pneumonia, of Sir Harry Armstrong, a former member of the Consular Service.
The funeral of the late Charles Nygrene, took place yesterday noon, at the Karoro Cemetery. The services, at the residence, Turumaha Street, and at the graveside, were conducted by Mr. W. Osborne Brown
A cablegram from Athens stated that the condition of the Duchess of Kent’s father, Prince Nicholas, is causing great uneasiness. His heart has weakened, and the cerebral trouble is intensified.

Cable advice was received yesterday of the death at Miami Beach, Florida, yesterday, of Harvey S. Firestone, chairman of directors of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company He was aged 69, and was a personal friend of Ford and Edison.
Sir Walter Carncross, will complete his term of office as a member of the Legislative Council on March 17, and although the Cabinet has not yet considered the position, it is stated on the best authority that his reappointment is certain. Sir Walter Carncross can claim nearly 50 years’ service as a member of the New Zealand Parliament.
Advice has been received that Miss Nellie McDonnell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. McDonnell, Alexander Street, Greymouth, has been successful in securing her L.R.A.M., diploma (theory and practical) in elocution. Miss McDonnell is furthering her studies in elocution and dramatic art in London.
