SWIMMING

[per Proqs Association.] DUNEDIN, December 15. The claim from Auckland that the time of Imin 16sec recorded by Kathleen Grey in the 110 yards women’s swim is three-fifths of a second faster than that recorded by Isay Purdie, of Dunedin, is not substantiated by facts. Miss Purdie actually swam the distance, not only in Dunedin, but also in Auckland, in faster time than that recorded by the Aucklander. Miss Purdie’s record for the 110 yards is 73sec, and she has beaten 76sec on several occasions. At Auckland, in March last, Miss Purdie, who is 17 years of age, swam 110 yards in 73sec.
