[Per Press Association]. AUCKLAND, December 10. The first tenants of the State houses at Orakei moved into their new home to-day. They were Mr and Mrs J. C. Bonham and their two young children. Mr Bonham is physical drill instructor to the Young Men’s Christian Association in Auckland. . Mr Bonham’s house, which is a four-roomed bungalow facing Coates Avenue, is one of the 12 of which the Government obtained possession from the contractors on Wednesday. Further inspections of the houses allotted to them were made by the selected tenants to-day. It is expected that several of these will take up residence at the new settlement within the next few days. Mr Bonham was able to occupy his new house practically unnoticed. Not even salesmen arrived during the operation, although many salesmen have vainly approached the Auckland office of the State Advances Corporation during the last few days to find out the names of the selected tenants and when they would go into residence. Information on these matters has not been divulged. BLENHEIM, December 11.
A. J. Millynn, 66, prospector and shearer, who was employed at the Muller sheep station, Upper Awatere, failed to accompany the rest of the gang to breakfast this morning. When the men returned to the bunkhouse, they found Millynn dead from a severe head wound. A .303 rifle was alongside the body.
