Timaru Convent Pupils

Quite a number of former .West Coast music students, now pupils of the Convent of Mercy, Craigie Avenue, Timaru, have during the present year, scored notable successes in various examinations and competitions. Following is a list:— TIMARU COMPETITIONS. (For Competitors Under 18 Years). At the Trinity College Practical Examination, held in Timaru on October 13th, Mr Anderson Tyrer gave the following marks: — Professional Diploma:—Nancy Toohey, L.T.C.L. (practical) Solo Performer’s Diploma. LOCAL EXAMINATIONS. (Total 100, Honours 85, Merit Pass 75, Pass 65). Advanced Senior:—Una Murray (violin) 95. Senior:—Zita Austin (violin) 92; Mona Murray (violin) 88; May Kyne 78. Intermediate: —Imelda Austin ( cello) 85. Junior:—Katie Kane 73; Mary O’Neill 72. Advanced Preparatory:—Beverley Lyons 87; Brenda Gawith 85; Mary Virtue 81; Lesley Williams (elocution) 80. Preparatory:—Pauline Dooley 86; Colleen Brosnahan 82; Mary Egan 75; Shona Ward 69.

At the Associated Board Royal Schools of Music Practical Examination, held in Timaru on November 25th, Dr. Markham Lee awarded the following marks: — Teacher’s Certificate. (Total 200, Pass 150) :—
