VALEDICTORY
AERO CLUB PRESENTATION TO MR. A. J. McDOWALL. At the Aero Club’s rooms last evening, there was a gathering of the members to farewell Mr. A. J. McDowall, one of the Club founders, to whom a presentation was made, consisting of a handsome album of aerial views of the West Coast. The following toasts were honoured: “Tho King”; “United Aero Club,” proposed by Mr. McDowall and responded to by Mr. Brailsford; “Greymouth Aero Club,” proposed by Captain Parke and responded to by Mr. F. A; Kitchingham; “Mr. A. J. McDowall,” proposed by Mr. Kitchingham, and sup- , ported by Captain Parke and Mr. Brailsford, and responded to by. the guest of the evening; “Foundation Members,” proposed by Pilot P. Murray, and responded to by Messrs W. Norton and Good; “Pilot Members and Civil Reserve,” proposed by Mr. G. Walters and responded to by Messrs Orr (Reserve) and M. Spiers (Pilots); “The New President, Mr. F. A. Kitchingham,” proposed by Mr. L. J. Wicks, and responded to by Mr. Kitchingham; “Staff of the United Aero Club,” proposed by Mr. F. Malloy and responded to by Mr. F. McDonald; “Social Committee,” proposed by Mr. Spiers and responded to by Mr. W. Ashby. The speakers referred eulogistically to Mr. McDowall’s leading part, along with Mr. H. De Castro, in establishing an Aero Club here, stating his enthusiasm had been an indispensable factor in the venture, and his work would be remembered’ to his lasting credit. Captain x arke gave an interesting resume of his Hying experience, while items were given by Messrs H. Anderson, G. Hughes, Allan and Ferguson, whose health was proposed by Mr. Wicks, closing a most, enjoyable evening.
