Scoring three unconverted tries and a penalty to their opponents’ two converted tries, the South Canterbury representatives defeated Manawatu by 12 points to 10. It was a disappointing standard, but both teams were obviously tired from their strenuous touring. WANGANUI, September 15. Showing better condition and slightly more pace in the loose, Wanganui defeated Wellington in a Rugby' match played on Spriggens Park. The final score was 14 to 8. Wellington lacked team work in the backs, and there was a marked tendency' to lose ground through passing rushes. Although Wanganui often showed lamentable weakness in tackling, the Wellington team could not drive home many promising thrusts. Tries were scored for Wanganui by Barton (two) and Toldsbury. Welsh kicked a penalty goal and converted one try'. For Wellington, Reynolds scored a try' which Todd converted, and Todd kicked a penalty’ goal.
