Mrs June Bates, 38, mother of four children, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment on a charge of attempting to extort 500 dolla’’s from the film actor, John Boles. She admitted writing threatening letters to Boles demanding money. SANTA BARBARA, August 11. After their having been 30 years married, Mrs Edith Oland is suing the actor, Warner Oland, for separate maintenance at the rate of 3.500 dollars a month. She alleges his overindulgence in liquor. ANTI-NAZIS REFUSED MOTOR LICENSES. ( BERLIN, August 12. Opponents of the Nazis will not_be able to drive cars, the Supreme Court upholding the police refusal to grant a license to a driver who had attacked the Government.
