CARPENTERS BUSY

WELLINGTON REPORT. IPer Press Association]. WELLINGTON, August 9. Mr Moulton, secretary of the Carpenters’ and Joiners’ Union, stated today at Wellington, that there is little unemployed among carpenters. The Government housing scheme is relieving the position. There still remains the difficulty of a number of married men having to travel to secure work, bringing the problem of these of keeping two homes going. Portion of answers to ten thousand questionaires he sent out, showed an annual wage for tradesmen of from £152 to £lB2 and an average of 30s, leaving little for food and clothing..
