THE CENTENNIAL
EXHIBITION PLANS. WELLINGTON, August 8. Matters relating to the forthcoming Centennial Exhibition are proceeding apace. Lord Galway has agreed to become patron. The directors have decided to set up an executive commission in London and invitations have been issued to the High Commissioner, Lord Bledisloe, and other ex-Governor-Generals as well as other influential New Zealanders resident in London. The various committees that have recently been constituted are now beginning to function. The finance committee is starting out on a more active campaign to secure the balance of the necessary share capital. During the past few days the works commitee, under the chairmanship of Councillor J. Read, paid a visit to the site at Rongotai with a view to inspecting the progress of the work there. The members were very much impressed with the satisfactory way in which the levelling was progressing. The printing committee, under the chairmanship of Councillor W. Appleton, has accepted a tender and placed the order for the printing of the business prospectus which is intended to go more or less broadcast to business firms throughout the Dominion and Australia and overseas. This will explain in detail the whole undertaking.
