SCHOOL COMMITTEE

MEETING AT BLACKBALL. The monthly meeting of the Blackball School Committee was held at the School on August 1. Mr C. Hogg' (chairman) presided, and all members were present, also Mr R. Allan, headmaster. Minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed as read. Outstanding accounts amounting to £7 18s 8d were passed for payment. The headmaster was authorised to spend £lO on books for the Reference Library. The secretary was instructed to apply to the Education Board for a book case to be used in the reference library, and also for grass seed for the school ground. The committee were unanimous in recording their appreciation of the following who officiated at the schoolboys’ boxing tournament: Messrs Beban, Humphreys and Blanchfield (referees); Kinsella and C. Duncan (timekeepers); Driscoll and R. Duncan (judges); also R. Mountford who helped to erect the ring, and the Greymouth Boxing Association for the loan of ropes, mat, etc.
