A POLICE CATCH
Auckland Intruder STRUGGLE IN WAREHOUSE. I Per Press Association]. AUCKLAND, August 9. Seen to enter the warehouse of John Burns and Company, Limited, at about 9,30-o’clock to-night, a man was followed into the premises by Detective McLean. When the man be came aware that he was being followed, he attempted to escape, and a chase through the building followed. After eluding the detective, by dodging round various obstacles, the intruder was eventually trapped, and then he commenced to struggle. In the meantime, Detective-Ser-geant McHugh arrived on the scene, in a motor-car, accompanied by Detectives, Clements, and Hays. On entering the premises, however, they found that the intruder had been taken into custody by Detective McLean, after a desperate struggle. In consequence of recent thefts from the premises where the intruder was caught, the building has been under observation by the police, and their perseverance was rewarded when the man was seen to enter.
