TOur Own Correspondent) A party of local school boys and girls travelled to Wataroa last weekend to play basketball and football matches with the southern teams. The home teams won their respectivi games with the visitors. A North v. South football mate! took place at Wataroa last Saturday the match being played as a prelim inary to picking a team to play the Hokitika reps for the Dittman Shield at an early date. The game resulted in a win for South by 18 to 14. A large number of football follow ers in South Westland paid a visit tc. Greymouth last week-end to witness, the West Coast-Buller match for the Seddon Shield. Mrs A. Sutherland is on a visit tc Waiho Gorge. Mrs J. J. McKay, who is a patient in the Westland Hospital, is progressing favourably. Mr Frank Ford, of Kumara Junction, was a visitor here for the weekend. The final game in the Knock-out football competition, between the two local teams, took place here or. Sunday afternoon. The Rover tean were the winners by 11 points to 3. The anniversary ball in aid of th< Public Hall funds took place here on Saturday night. The turn-out was i great success from every point o. view. Music was supplied by the Victorian Dance Band of Hokitika.
