Mr. R. R. King, left yesterday morning for Otaki to join the New Zealand team in training for tlie first test against the Springboks.
Dr. J. F. C. Moore and Mrs. Moore, who left last evening for Christchurch, will return to Greymouth tomorrow.
Miss Cecil Hannan, Christchurch, arrived yesterday from Christchurch on a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hannan.
Messrs A. H. McKane and J. B. Kent, the sitting members who retired by rotation as local body representatives on the Technical School Board, have been re-elected. Theirs were the only nominations received.

The death occurred at Christchurch yesterday, of Miss Nellie (Sister) Congreve, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Congreve, aged 45 years. Mr. F. Congreve, Tainui Street, Greymouth, is a brother of deceased and left last evening for Christchurch, where the funeral takes place to-day.
Passengers by yesterday’s express to Christchurch included: Mr. R. W. Blazey (on return), Mr. C. L. Kettle, Mr. and Mrs. M. Bradshaw, Mrs. W. Fisher, Mr. H. Hamer (Kumara), Miss M. Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. J. O’Donnell (to Christchurch), Mr. A. H. Carey (on return to Wellington), Mr. C. Margetson (on return to Dunedin).
Cabled advice has tj-een received of the death at the residence of his son, Mr George (“Doc”) Michel, Newlyn. Victoria, Australia, of Mr George Michel, senr., at the age of 88 years. A native of Australia, the late Mr Michel for many years resided with his son, Mr George Michel, a blacksmith, at Ikamatua, and he was wellknown in that district. Three sons formerly resided in the Grey Valley, namely, Jack (later oi Kokatahi), Thomas (both now deceased), and George.
