The Rugby League Board of Control to-night formally granted Tottey permission to travel with the Kangaroos as a visitor. The Board is awaiting Mr. Sunderland’s letter by the Awatea, giving particulars of the financing of the trip. ******* N.S.W. Affairs: Conference of the Country Rugby League decided to support the Bathurst League in its attitude towards Sunday sport. The question was discussed at great length. Finally, it was decided that Groups throughout the State be asked to raise funds to pay into a trust account for the purpose of defraying the expense of legal actions pending at Bathurst. Any surplus at the conclusion of the actions is to be refunded pro rata to the contributing Groups.

It was suggested that.any donations be On a basis of not less than sixpence per registered player. An interesting feature of the Country League’s latest move is that the N.S.W. Rugby League and the Newcastle Rugby League are to be asked to contribute to the fighting fund. Selectors Attacked:

Selection of the Australian Rugby League team to tour England and France came in for scathing criticism. A number of delegates inclined to the view that country players had not received fair treatment. The meeting decided to recommend that the annual conference approach the N.S.W. Rugby League in an endeavour to have two country representatives appointed to the State selection committee.

Should their efforts prove successful, one selector would represent the Country League and the other the Newcastle League.

The Country League will also press for representation on the Australian Board of Control. The secretary was to open negotiations with the New Zealand Rugby League concerning a proposed tour of the Dominion by a team of country players. A report will be made to the annual conference.

Residential Rule: In future, any player breaking the residential rule by playing before he is residentially qualified will be stood down during the pleasure of the League. A request from Group XI concerning boundaries was referred to the management committee, . which will report to the annual conference. A member of the management committee is to attend a farewell to the Port Kembla winger, Charlie Hazelton, who is to tour, with the Kangaroos. The League decided to co-operate with the P.S.A.A.A., in- staging a schoolboys’ Country Week in August.
