SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS
Tongariro Results WELLINGTON. August 1. The annual sports of the Tongariro Ski Club were held at Mount Kuapehu National Park in satisfactory weather. Saturday’s results were as follows:— Men’s Downhill Race.—D. Cameron (Hawke’s Bay) 1; M. Collier (National Park) 2, W. M. Anderson (Auckland) 3. Men’s Novice Race. —R. Dowie (Auckland) 1; S. H. Bailey 2, S. A. Wilson 3. , Further events will be held on Monday. The first of a series of friendly contests between the visiting American ski-runners and the New * Zealand team was held on Saturday. Results were as follow:—Durrance (America), first run 48 2-5, second run 40 4-5, total 89 1-5 points, 1; D. Bradley (America) 55 3-5, 42 4-5—98 2- points, 2; B. Murphy (New Zealand), 51 4-5, 50 4-5—102 3-5 points, 3; B. McMillan (New Zealand), 52 4-5, 53—106 4-5 points, 4; S. Bradley, 47 4-5, 61 3-5—109 2-5 points, 5; J. TIMARU, July 31. The Grand National Ski Championship meeting began at Mount Cook yesterday in perfect weather.
