A HUGE BEAR. [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] VIENNA, August 2. What is believed to be the biggest bear in the Balkans, wnich has long terrorised villages, was tracked by Mika Jovanovitch, in South Serbia. It weighed nearly 900 lbs., and in length was ovei; eight feet. Peasants from miles around came to the, scene to kiss, Jovanovitch’s hand. He was feted for several days.

ENGLISH BANK HOLIDAY. LONDON. August 2. All records were broken in the exodus from London and other towns for the bank holiday, a feature being the amazing increase in car travel. Twenty-three passed the main cosist roads from London on Sunday morning. French holiday resorts are also crowded with English visitors, trains and aeroplanes being loaded to capacity. Generous spending is symptomatic of the widespread trade, revival.
