BRUNNER NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent). The half-yearly committee meeting of the Brunner Public Library was held in Wallsend, Mr V/. Purdy presiding over- a good attendance. The half-year balance sheet to June 30, was read and adopted, the income being 1237 8s 6d and the expenditure £216 10s lid, leaving a credit balance of £2O 17s 7d. Accounts amounting to £l2 7s Id were passed for payment. During the week 75 new books were placed on the shelves. Prize-winners at the weekly whist drive held in Taylorville school last evening were: Mrs G. Smith 1, Mr Magee 2, Mrs Chetwynd 3. Miss P. Barber left by yesterday’s express on a holiday visit to Christchurch. Mr D. Jones, Leeston, who has been on a holiday visit to Taylorville leaves on his return to-morrow (Thursday). Mrs A. Gutberlet, Dobson, who has been visiting Hokitika, has returned.
