Promoted ; by a strong Citizen’s Committee a . programme of exceptional merit has been arranged, and this will be broadcast from the Radiant Hall, Christchurch by 3YA. All the artists tak- ’ ing part have given their services ’ gratuitously, and they represent ’ many of the ’ best known and popu-' ; lar performers in Christchurch. The ■ object of the concert is to raise the j amount necessary, about £5OO, to pro- ; vide the orphanges with bread for a ’ year. Programmes and a donation en- \ velope have been distributed to all . radio listeners throughout Canterbury, Westland, and Marlborough. Listeners are asked to invite their? friends to their homes for this broadcast, aiul during the evening to pass round the envelope for donations. In past years this concert has been highly successful, and listeners throughout the South Island have entered into the spirit of the evening. Last year no less a sum than £7OO was raised.
