(Our Own Correspondent). On Saturday the Nelson Creek sixth grade League team participated in two games at Victoria Park, drawing with Runanga, 5 all, but .losing to Marist A 13—6. On Sunday at Ngahere, iii drizzling weather after a strenuously contested game, Ngahere defeated Nelson Creek by’6 to 3. Nehion Creek had a decided advantage territorially and were unlucky to lose. The Ngahere defence was severely - tested on several occasions, and it was pleasing to no. ticc a general strengthening of the Creek defence, the tackling pn both sides being o f a comparatively good standard. • . The reappearance of Mick O’Brien resulted .in -the Greek forwards playing more as a . team, they Combining well in some great dribbling rushes. “Mick” was a good loader and demonstrated several, of the liner and shrewder points.. Ngahere kicked off but Nelson Creek were .‘loon on attack and had Ngahere defending.. First Dalziel- and then Donnelly., on the. wings, made splendid dashes but the tackling was very sound'. Ngahere then took, . a short period of attack and from a penalty Weir goaled from close in. Ngahere 2—o. ■ ■

II) spite o f the greasy surface .the game was very bright. From the kick off Gilman passed to Weir, who potted a neat goal. Ngahere 4—o. Weir ’ made several jirky runs tor the winners while his accurate kicking was -responsible for his team’s jwni. Gilman was also ' prominent, _ while Ba’derstonc proved a safe las.t link of defence. For the losers, Dalziel displayed .dash on the wing while Ravage, Walker and Donnelly were -also prominent. O’Brien was a sound leader in the forwards in whom Pietty was in good form.
