BOWLING

' NEW CLUB: AT KARORO. At a representative meeting of bowlers, it was decided to proceed with the formation of a bowling club at Karoto. Mr J. Sharp, Centre President, was voted t,o the chair. Mr J. M. Bunt a convenor of the meeting,- explained the progress niad e in the formation of ■ the new chib. He wished to refute rumvurs that the proposal to form a new elub was antagonistic to the Grey, mouth Club. The convenors, Messrs E. R. Moss, R. W. Sansom and himself, had met the sub, committee set up by the Hospital Board and certain proposals concerning an area of ground, etc., had been agreed to, subject to the approval of the Hospital Board. He pointed out the advantages of increas. ed competition and additional facilities to the sport generally. Mr E. R. Moss also spoke in favour of the new club which hoped to work in harmony with the Greymouth Club. Mr J. Saunders said th e idea that the new club had been brought about, by recent actions of the Greymouth Club was ridiculous. The idea had been fostered by a Greymouth rink returning from the Easter Tournament, at Blenheim. Messrs Sansom, Whibley, Thomason, Grams, Kyle and 1 Shannon also spoke in favour or a new chib. The following motion, proposed by Mr Bunt and seconded by Mr Sansom, was carried unanimously: “That this meeting heartily approve of the proposal t 0 form a new bowling club m Greymouth, and also of the proposedsite/of the new green, provided that it can be made available on the terms and conditions outlined' by the convenors of this meeting.” On the motion of Messrs 'Shannon and McCorkindale, the convenors, with Messrs. Thompson, McKenzie, _G. Patterson and J. Kyle,. were appoin,. ed a sub-committee to proceed with the formation of the club, and to call a general meeting at a later date. It was reported that-between 30 and 40 bowlers and intending bowlers had joined.
