WELLINGTON, June 1The weather’report and forecast are as follows: — General situation: An anti-cyclone is moving eastwards off New Zealand and a° extensive and ratheri deep depression is approaching slowly across the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds north-easterly to northerly, strong in parts of the Cook and Foveaux Strlaits areas; otherwise light to moderate at first, but freshening generally, and later reaching gale force at many places. A change to southerlies is probable by to-mor-row morlning in (the southern portion, of! the South Island. Seas (N-Z, waters): Rather rough south of Cape Egmont and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere slight to moderate,, but later rising generally. Easltern Tasman Sea: Northerly winds of strong to gale force, with rough seas. Weather unsettled, with rain developing soon in the western and far southern portions of the South Island; elsewhere fair) to cloudy a't fi rst > but dull misty conditions, and general rain is probable within the next day or twoTemperatures mild-
