WHOSE BRAND? (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, May 20. “This country, like other countries of the British Empire, must pin its faith to democracy,” said the Hon. Adam Hamilon, Leader of the Opposition. addressing the National Club in 'Wellington to-day, “but democracy must be handled properly or it will break down. It is the. job of New Zealanders to see that it does not break down, for the only alternative is a dictatorship. If we ever have a dictatorship in New Zealand, it will not be a Fascist one, but a Communist one, run on Russian lines.”
Mr Hamilton expressed himself as definitely opposed to any policy that would seek merely- to satisfy one particular section. It was his aim and that of his party- to provide what would serve the real interests of all. One. section must not hope to benefit at the expense of another, but all must get together. The result would be j good government, which could not be hoped for from the Labour Party,
