Reefton Returned Soldiers’ As ociation. and the Rev Reg Seaton, while Mr T- R- Watson read the ScriptureApolog'es were received from the Rev C- Dickens and C- Danner and the Salvation Army Captain for absenceThe combined choiils led the sing ligand the Inangahua Silver Band also played appropriate items- At the conclusion of the service, the proeesion marched to the Cenotaph, where floral emblems were placed upon it, and after a -selection by the band the “Last Post’’ was sounded by Bugle, Baird, and the National Anthem by the band concluded the ceremonyMiss Cleaver, who has been on an extended visit to the North Island returned by Saturday evening > Christchurch expressThe meeting of Countv Couneillo: - of the Grey and Inangahua Counties over the amalgamation propo-al which the Jnanghaua Conned asked to be held to-morrow, will not-take-place as intended owing to the Grey Coune 1lors being unable to come to Reefton. but will probably t a^iC place later in the weekSaturday was an extremely wet day, heavy cold showers of rain falling continuously,, and all outdoor spoits had to be abandonedAbout 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon an alarm of fire was given, when it was found that Mr Fifield’s house, n Walsh Street was, on fire- The Fnn Brigade were very smartly on the scene and a small amount of vatei played on the building soon had the blaze under control- As the fire was in the roof of the house, several sheets of irbn had to be. removed from the roof before the seat of the fire could be got out- The building was not greatly damaged, but the furniture and effects suffered from the water, and Mr Fifield will be a fa’rly heavy loserThe Inangahua Silver! Band turned out in full force yesterday, bc'ng twenty-one strong, and their music showed a decided improvement- The band was headed by Drum-Major TBaird, and their marching and coun-ter-marching was indeed a credit to all- This part of the band’s functions has- been neglected for some years past, and all tv'll be pleased to learn that it has been re-started- The appearance of young learners in the band’s ranks was also noted with the greatest satisfaction-
