Opera House “END OF THE TRAIL" JACK HOLT TN THRILLING FILM. Beginning with the climax to the Spanish-American .War, “End of the Trail’’ which opens at the Opera House to-day, sweeps on in a kaleido. scope of exciting outdoor action and drama that should whet the appetite of the most jaded audience. Jack Holt is in the. type of role that made him famous. IQ. is ably assisted by a cast that includes Louise Henry, Guinn Williams, Douglass Dumbrillc, Geno Morgan and George McKay. And as an added surprise, Erie Kenton, who directed this bundle of screen thrills, turns actor and appears himself in the role of Theodore Roosevelt. “End of the Trail’’ tells ol Dale Brittenham and Bob Hildreth, in a western cow town between whom there is little love lost. Brittenham, played by Holt, kids Hildreth played by Williams, into enlisting when war is declared with Spain. The kidding ends by Hildreth knocking Brittenham down with a ,j>uneh in the jaw, and Brittenham joining the army to follow Hildreth to square the account. Brittenham saves Hildreth’s life. They become friends. Their rivalry continues when they meet Belle, a Red Cross nurse. When they return from Cuba, Belle comes with them. Bob is made sheriff. Dale becomes involved in a business that is profitable, but outside the law. In spite of thg efforts of Bob and Belle to get Brittenham to quit his racket, Dale becomes involved in ugly situations that result in the killing of Mason, a questionable character, by Brittenham. Rather than offer a defence of his act, which was justifiable Dale submits to arrest by his friend Sheriff Bob, and goes to gaol to pay the penalty. “End of the Trail’’ is thrilling.
