CONTROL OVER SPAIN Insurgent Attack Expected (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received March 7, 7 p.m.) LONDON - , March 6. International supervision over Spain should become operative at midnight to-night'. At present, however, it is no-t being introduced. This is owing to certain details not being settled by the Non-Intervention' Committee. The Committee sat all day to-day, and it agreed to naval anid land con. trol, also on matters, but some technicalities remain -outstanding. Spanish Consul-General LEAVES AUSTRALIA TO JOIN •> FRANCO. SYDNEY, March G. Don Pedro de Ygual Y Martinez Daban, former Consul-General for Spain, left ‘Sydney yesterday to join the forces of General Franco. Spanish representation in New South Wales has ceased. Before saiding Don Pedro said: “With my country torn by war, and consular affairs at a standstill, I felt I could not stay here.” NAPLES, March 6. An Italian hospital ship landed 540 Italians, including fifty stretcher eases, rvho were wounded recently in Spain. A Gibraltar message states that an additional 2500' Italians have been landed at Cadiz, MADRID, March 5. Street vendors have returned to the capital and are plying a busy trade in. the shattered streets, apparently indifferent to the insurgents massing outside the capital, indicating that a big offensive is imminent. MADRID, March 6. Government aircraft are reported to have bombed successfully and driven off the insurgent cruiser Almirante Cervera, while attempting to capture a merchantman off the coast.
