This action follows failure to reach a compromise. Members of a “Peace Commission,” after the refusal of admission to the monastery, conducted a shouted conversation with the monks, manning the fifteen.feet walls. The monks formerly received Gs monthly as pocket money, and this was recently increased to 30s, upon which they accumulated their savings, with which they made pleasure trips to neighbouring Moslem villages.
