GIRL DROWNS IN BATHS. (Per Press Association.) OAMARN, March 5. A girl named Myrtle Frame, aged 16, daughter of George Samuel Fraim, Eden Street, Oamaru, died m th ■ Oamaru Municipal Baths about tnie< o’clock this afternoon. . She was a strong and experienced swimmer, and before entering the water appeared to be in her usua . good health. However, on diving into the deep end, she failed to come to the surface. Noticing the undue length of time she had been under tne water, June Craddock, aged about 16, dived in and (brought her to the surface. Artificial respiration _ was applied immediately, and continued on their arrival by Drs Butler and Fitzgerald, but without avail. This is the first fatality ever to have occurred in the baths. FATAL FALL FROM POWER POLE. AUCKLAND. March 5. While he was working for the Auckland! Electric Power Board on a power pole, James McDonald, aged 43, married, of Epsom, fell and fractured his skull. He died later.
