(Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, 'March 4. Following an objection by the police, a Justice of the Peace to-day refused to grant bail in a case wherein Frederick Norman Davis, a butcher and cook, 44, was charged with indecently assaulting a girl aged 13 years. Detective-Sergeant Biekerdike gave as grounds for objection to bail a remark allegedly passed by accused from the d.ock to a witness who was giving
evidence, also the fact that accused had no ties. Accused, who denied the allegation regarding the remark, was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
