LINTON MINERS KILLED

BY FALL OF COAL. (Per Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, March 3. A double mining fatality occurred in the Linton coal mine at Ohai, short, ly after 11 o’clock this morning, when two experienced miners, Peter Johnstone, 50, married!, with ten children, one of wlhom is married, and Thomas Thomsen, about 38, married with onechild', lost their lives through a heavy fall, of coal. The bodies were recovered half an hour later, but it was evident that both had been killed instantly. The inspector for (be Mines Depart, ment (Mr J. Hughes), had, a few minutes before the fall occurred', passed through the work.
