Freer says: “Several .statements have appeared, in New Zealand newspapers to the effect that some, definite legal action would be commenced by ma m New Zeaiund on Friday. 1 know nothing about any such contemplated action. My case M being considered by my legal advisers here, '-who are in communication with legal gentlemen m Australia who took action on my behalf prior to- my leaving for Sydney by the Awatea. That action was taken by them on the.r own initiative, arising out of their o.wn feelings at the grave injustice done to mt- and at the misuse to which the immigration laws of Australia had been put. At the moment, -so far as I know, legal act.on is not an immediate contemplation, but that does not mean that lam not persevering with the light. It is not my intention to return to my children in England with the brand put upon me by Mr Paterson. Before I return to England, I intend to clear my name in Australia. lam prepared to appear before any tribunal there, including the Cabinet, of which Mr Paterson is himself a member. After hearing me. they can make what, enquiries they like, and I am prepared to abide by their decision. If, after hearing me, they are dissatisfied, 1 would, be prepared to leave Australia.” Mrs. Freer’s Job IN DEPARTMENT STORE. .WANGANUI, December 17. Mrs M. Freer arrived in Wanganui to-day, and she commences work here with'a departmental store. She has agreed to assist this store, in the development of a fashion gown salon. Mrs Freer is to be given charge of that section, and she states that she is delighted to accept such ia position, she having rejected many others, because of the publicity attached- to them'.
