Jean Batten WELLINGTON ARRIVAL A SECRET (Per press Association). WELLINGTON. October 22. Although Miss Jean Batten boarded the southbound Limited express at Frankton .Junction to-night, she will not reach Wellington by rail to-mor-row morning. Arrangements* were made to-day for her to leave the train early to-morrow and motor to Wellington, arriving “sometime in the morning before 11 o’clock.” To-morrow morning’s rendezvous for the motor-car which will bring her to Wellington was not disclosed by those in Wellington in charge of the flyer’s itinerary.
Miss Batten ■will be motored direct to her hotel. It was stated that this would avoid the delay that would be associated with her public arrival at the railway station, and would enable her to fulfil a number of business engagements before the first of her theatre appearances. A civic reception is to De tendered Miss Batten on Saturday* morning.
