Trotting Notes
Supertax: Supertax with .any sort of a run, would have been first past the post io the Avon Handicap at New Brighton. Gay Crusader: Gay Crusader has many placed performances to his credit. There is .always something fast a bit too good for him. G'uy Hugo: Guy Hugo throw away certain sucsueeess at New Brighton by breaking, but he still impressed as the brightest future prospect of a moderate field. Indianapolis: 1 ndi.,',ntipolis is booked 10 leaxe to. Adelaide after the prineipiil summer meetings in Canterbury. I,'oi TO,- is also expected to in the second inter-Dominion championships. Ruth Logan: . . Ruth Logan’s good second to ParisiOnne in the Summer Handicap at New Brighton suggests the Logan Pointer mare is now ready to reproduce her good track work. He r . 2min 48 l-ssec for a mile and a quarter is a. performance that would win the majority of races of this class. She is now 1.1 the e’are of L. A. who will drive her in the first day’s engagements at Grevmouth, and will return to Oamaru handle Blue Mountain. Casanova, and other horses. Sports Ejeview;
Sports Review has been paid up for in two races on the opening day of the Greymouth meeting, and in both events he is set to meet big fields find is asked to concede a start. On the small Greymouth course, this is « problem for any horse, but on his best day iSports Review is a really good pacer, and success may not be beyond him’. A Converted. Trotter:
Tim AVorthy.. a well-bred colt by Frank Worthy from Daphne de Oro, ’.s now trained by A. Holmes, who has hopes of making a trotter out of his novice. Tim Worthy has as much speed as most horses of his age, and can trot fast, but Holmes apparently has a big job in front of him' in developing Hie proper rac’ng temperament in Tim Worthy. Lottie Guy:
Lottie Guy who will race at Greymouth is a five-year-old mare by Real Guv. from' Prolific and while she has not been favourei with lhe best-of luck in her races, her form has been good enough to suggest that her winning turn is not far off. At the New Brighton meeting earli <r in the month, Little Guy was beate-.i by two very good pacers in Ginger Jack and Renown s Best, but in her close third' she registered 3 min 23 I-ssec for a mile and a half. If she can produce this form at Greymouth she should pay her expenses on the trip. Black Marble:
Black Marble who claim’s engagements at the Grevmouth T.C. meet.ng is a five-year-old mare by Nelson Derby from Grattan Derby and .is trained at New Brighton by L. Davidson. Black Marble, who will probably be driven by J. Bryce, jun., has yet to start at a totalisator meeting, but at one of the inatDcc fixtures last season she showed very fair form. Tn the opening evenr at Greymonth, Black Marble is not set to meet anything ol real class, although Heather Queen has several placed performances to her credit and Savoldi, while lacking experience showed speed at the charity meeting last week.
Australian Pacers: Four Australian pacers are engaged at the Oamaru Trotting Club’s meeting on Labour Day. They are New Derby Evicus, Emilius Way, and New Ideal New Derbv and Evieus are candidates for the New Zealand Trotting Cup and other events at Addington in November. Emilius Way will be suited by the classes attached to the prinicpal races at Oamaru, and New Ideal will measure strides with several reputable local novices in the Trial Handicap.
Levity: AVhen raced at the recent AVaikato meeting Levity failed to go away correctly and swerved right across the track, this naturally ruining his chance. He was expected to go particularly well, and his display was very disappointing. He has taken no harm from the outing, and when next raced should not lack for condition.
San Michele: San Michele is not yet the finished article in trotting, although she has more speed than most trotters. Under
pressure she is inclined to break, ami in the Para Rubber Handicap at Adding'ton on Thursday it was only the expert I'eitisma nship of J. Bryce, jun, that kept her .'*i. <dv eii'mgh !:> gain the stake. Bryce took advantage of .’he mistakes of others and allowed lhe mare to gain a substantial lead, after which she was allowed to make he.own steady pace. San Michele will do still better, but up to the present she is no, a betting proposition. All (Special; All Special, who i- entered for the Auckland Trotting Club’s Spring m'eetuig. has ind raced for several years. At the Waikato Club’s Autumn meeting in 19.’11i Ail Sper-ial, trained and driven by t; T. Mitchell, won the Improves’ Handicap for trotters. Blair Athol: Blai]- Athol is reported to be step ping out in his training work as if he will go rt long wav (h’s season. Ho strolled over a mile and <a-quarter at Addington recently in 2 min 51see after covering a good deal of extra ground, and he is benefiting by age. Blair A'thol has the makings of a high e!»ss horse provided he remains sound. N.Z. HORSES AT MOONEE VALLEY (Received October 22, 10.25 p.m.) MELBOURNE. October 22.
