fPer Press Association). WELLINGTON, October 20. The weather report and foreeast are as follows: — General situation: A westerly depression has been crossing the Dominion to-day. A secondary is approaching across the Tasman Sea. but pressure is now rising over eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds north-easterly at. first in the northern portion of the North Island, but otherwise northerly to north-westerly winds predominating, and backing to westerly, and lat--6r in places to south-westerly; moderate to strong generally, and still of gale force in exposed positions, about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rather rough to rough south of Cape Egmont and in the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Westerly winds backing later to south-westerlies; moderate in the northern portion with moderate seas; elsewhere moderate to strong and in places of gale force, with rather rough to rough seas. Weather changeable and unsettled,, with rain in most districts, and some heavy falls arc probable in the western parts from Taranaki southwards but only light and scattered rains east of the main ranges. Temperatures mild, but becoming cooler during to-morrow.
