(Per Press Association). AUCKLAND. October 18. “Before very long I hopo to announce that we will be going on with the construction of the Auckland Harbour bridge,” said Mr AL R. Hornibrook, managing director of the M. R. Hornibrook Proprietary Ltd., of Brisbane, who has arrived from Australia. Mr Hornibrook said that he had come to New Zealand at the invitation of the harbour bridge company, and would carry out further investigations. ASHBURTON, October 18. Fire destroyed a dwelling and glass house with plants, owned by G. A. Bushell, a gardener, of Smithfield Road. The house of five rooms was not usually occupied, and was insured for £5OO (Lloyds). The glasshouse and plants were valued at £250. Bushell lit a fire to boil a preparation of turpentine, sulphur and beeswax for grafting trees, the building igniting in his absence. WHAKATANE, October 17. A farmer of Edgecombe. W. Hunter, was injured by a bull this morning. While he was leading an aged Jersey bull through a gate the animal charged him. knocking him. against the gate. The bull continued the attack, until Hunter, who was on the ground, caught it by the nose ring and hung on until people in the vicinity came to his rescue.
