(On r Own Correspondent). HOKITIKA, October 19. The weather took a summery turn to-day. Last week’s rainfall was slightly over half an inch. The sunshine recorded was about 311. hours. The whitebait made n pooj run today in the Hokitika River, and they attracted a hn«>f of fishers on both sides'of the river. The good eatehes caused prices to fa l ! appreciably. The health authorities deny rumours that eerebro-spinal meningitis is prevalent. Only one case during the past few months ha.s been notified. The funeral of the infant son of "Mr and Mrs WjlPiams. of Bealey Street, took place on Saturday. Many floral tributes were received. The Lex. W. E. Davies conducted the services. The funeral fin Saturday of the late Mrs Rosa Norman was. nttended hv a large number, including many countrv residents. Rev. V • E. Dax > s conducted the services nt All Saints' Church and at the graveside, on winch floral tributes were p'.’aeed. The Municipal Band played a two-o-rnmme at- the hospital yesterday, fl-hon there were n large number of visitors for the occasion. The Gael arrived from Wellington this morn'ng, having a. punt in tow from that port, which is to be used in connection with the erection of the bridge over Hokitika river at Kan>eri. The vessel sails for Bruce Bay to-morrow at midday. The recent floods have not affected the berthage at the wharf, which inow satisfactory. The bar ™ in good order. , , , .
