THE WEATHER
(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, October 18. The weather report and forecast are as follows:—■ General situation: The anti-cyclone located over New Zealand yesterday is moving away eastward; so also is the depression which was centred near Norfolk Island. A deep depression is. however, located over the western Tasman and will be affecting the Dominion during the first half of the week'. Forecast: Winds north-easterly in the far north; elsewhere northerly to north-westerly, moderate to fresh at times, but increasing later to gale force in places about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (N.Z. waters): Slight to moderate, but rising south of Cape Egmont and in the Cook and Foveaux Strait areas. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate northerly to north-westerly winds, increasing, and later rising in places to gale force. Sous slight to moderate but increasing. Weather: Some scattered rains at first in North Auckland and on the west, coast, of the South Island, but otherwise fair to fine. More generally unsettled conditions, with rain are setting in, however, in the western districts during Monday, and are extend ing to other parts during the first Imlt of the week. Temperatures mild.
